Asian Dub Foundation

Asian Dub Foundation is one of Britain 's biggest live acts. They started off in 1993 in London at the Community Music organization where bassist Dr Das (Aniruddha Das) taught music technology. The organization served as a music laboratory for famous as well as anonymous experimental musicians. He soon teamed up with one of his students, rapper Deeder Zaman and 15-year-old rapper DJ Pandit G to form a sound system to play at anti-racist gigs. The following year they recruited Birmingham-born guitarist Chandrasonic
(Steve Chandra Savale) and started moving further afield. With Sun-J joining in 1995 on technology (synthesizer), the line up was complete.

Their music is based on various influences. Chandrasonic listened to his father playing Sitar for years and later turned to punk; Dr. Das listened to Bengalese folk songs sang by his uncle, while DJ Pandit G first listened to the band The Fall.

They picked an ideal time to found a band, after the right-wing British National Party won the elections in East London by slim majority, and violence against Asians was on the rise all over Great Britain.

Their debut album 'Facts and Fictions' came out in 1995. They experienced the best response in France, so it's not surprising that their second album 'R.A.F.I.' was released by Virgin France in 1997.
The following year's 'Rafi's Revenge' was in fact a re-recorded, recharged version of R.A.F.I, energized through extensive live playing.
Their third album 'Community Music' was released in March 2000, named of course after the place where they started and out of respect to their ethnically and culturally diverse 'outerternational' fanbase.
The album 'Enemy of the Enemy' features Sinead O'Connor and Ed O'Brien from Radiohead.

They visited Rovinj as part of their big tour, just one day after appearing at the largest festival
in the region, Sziget Pepsi Festival in Budapest.
